Meat & Poultry Processing (Butchery)


This is a full-time, permanent work-based Apprenticeship in Butchery. Apprentices train on-the-job towards nationally recognised qualifications.

Apprentices usually start training at Level 2, depending on their qualifications and ability. This is identified at an initial assessment.

 

Course content
Subject areas include:

  • Food and hygiene
  • Health and safety
  • Processing meat safely
  • Knife care
  • Cutting/boning/trimming meat
  • Preparing and packaging meat
  • Cooking and processing meat.

It is vital that the butchery trade is kept alive with new, well trained staff.

An Apprenticeship in Meat and Poultry processing will provide your staff will all the skills required to become a skilled butcher.

Duration
Apprenticeship: 12 months.
