Springer Spaniel puppies Virginia
We have produced over 30 AKC Champions since our first litter, and many of our puppies have also gone on to earn titles in Obedience, Agility and Hunting. We are proud of the versatility that Welsh Springers display and encourage owners to get involved in dog activities with their companions. Not every Welshie Champion needs to produce puppies, and we are selective in who we choose to breed. Our breeding program goals are simple and straightforward. We want to improve the quality of Welsh Springers we breed, provide people with a loving family companion, and provide WSS information to interested people. Our web site, our involvement with the breed, and our current dogs are reflective of this philosophy.
We have owned Welshies since 1979, and began competition obedience training in earnest during that time. Together, Rich and I trained dogs to Novice, Open and Utility obedience titles and Novice and Advanced Rally titles, all while showing our dogs in breed conformation shows. Rich and I were founding members of a local dog obedience club and devoted many years to both setting up and running practice shows and judging at local match shows for Obedience, Rally, and Breed Conformation. We have done bird work with our dogs (no easy feat in northern NJ!) and have participated in Hunt Tests in the past. Spending time with our dogs and training them to do what they are bred to do is important to us, and we enjoy these interaction with the dogs and watching them succeed.
Currently, we are both members of the Welsh Springer Spaniel Club of America, where Rich serves on the Board of Directors. He is also the WSSCA Delegate to the American Kennel Club, and I am an approved WSSCA Mentor for AKC Judges Education.
