  • The cost is subsidised by the government
  • You can take on more responsibilty and and improve your promotion prospects
  • Your knowledge and skills will gain you respect from your employer, work colleagues and friends
  • You don't have to go to college and sit in a classroom
  • You achieve a nationally recognised qualification that is relevant to your job.

The elements of your Apprenticeship
Your Apprenticeship will cover all the aspects of your job, both practical and theoretical, split into the following four parts:

Key Skills
These are skills you use all of the time - both at work and at home. All Apprenticeships include a Key Skills element in Communication and Application of Number. Once you have attained your Key Skill qualifications they are transferable to any Apprenticeship and essential in everyday life.

National Vocational Qualification - Level 2
The NVQ is the practical element of your Apprenticeship. The key components of your job are broken down into units on which you are then assessed. Completion of these units demonstrates that you can do your job effectively.

Technical Certificates - Level 2
Technical Certificates focus on the theory of your job role and help you acquire valuable insights into the sector you work in. They are specific to your job and give you useful skills and background knowledge that you'll be able to put into practice every day.

Employment responsibilities and rights
This part of the Apprenticeship covers employment law and company procedures. It is designed to give a sound knowledge of the employment rights and obligations from the perspective of both employer and employee.
