The Retail Apprenticeship is made up of three key elements:

  • A National Vocational Qualification (NVQ)
  • Key Skills
  • Technical Certificate.

This is a work-based Apprenticeship in Retail and Customer Service. Apprentices enjoy on-the-job training towards nationally recognised qualifications at Levels 2 and 3, guided by our professional assessors who provide one-to-one support and advice throughout the programme.

Apprentices usually start training at Level 2, depending on their qualifications and ability. This is identified at an initial assessment.

Course content
The Retail NVQ Level 2 consists of six units (one mandatory and five optional units). The single mandatory unit requires you to demonstrate how you work effectively in your retail team.

The five optional units are chosen from the following themes:

  • Receive and store goods
  • Process customer oredrs and returns
  • Prepare goods and produce for sale
  • Display and merchandise stock
  • Help customers to make purchases
  • Manage customer relationships.

Who should apply?
Ambitious school/college leavers interested in a retail career.

Level 3 is ideal if you are working as a supervisor or manager and want to progress in a retail related role.

Duration
Retail Apprenticeship: 12 months
Retail Advanced Apprenticeship: 12 -18 months.
