Meat & Poultry Processing (Butchery)

The Butchery Apprenticeship is made up of four key elements:

  • A National Vocational Qualification (NVQ)
  • Key Skills
  • Technical Certificate
  • Employment rights and responsibilities.

This is a work-based learning Apprenticeship in Butchery. Apprentices enjoy on-the-job training towards nationally recognised qualifications at Level 2, guided by our professional assessors who provide one-to-one support and advice throughout the programme.

Apprentices select from a range of units tailored to the needs of the business. This is identified at an initial assessment.

Course content
Subject areas include:

  • Food hygiene
  • Health and safety
  • Processing meat safely
  • Knife care
  • Cutting/boning and trimming meat
  • Preparing and packing meat
  • Cooking and processing meat.

Who should apply?
Ambitous school/college leavers interested in working within the butchery trade.

Duration
12 months.
